Program Overview

Currently, we offer an array of Juvenile Justice Supports and Services ranging from prevention programming to direct diversion efforts of youth already in contact with the criminal justice system to higher level efforts to support systems change. ICAN serves as the co-lead on a multi-county collaborative through the Mohawk Valley Regional Youth Justice Team, where we work to address gaps in service across a six-county region. Our services aim to improve outcomes for youth involved in the justice system through the implementation of evidence-based systemic changes.

One recent major milestone of our Juvenile Justice Programs was working collaboratively with local probation departments to select, design and implement a universal trauma screen that will be utilized to assess youth entering the juvenile justice system, for possible trauma.

Juvenile Justice Supports and Services are necessary, because we know if we do not provide high-risk youth with appropriate and timely supports and care, their risk for re-offending and having a multitude of negative life outcomes increases exponentially.

  • Youth must currently or previously be involved with the Juvenile Justice System, and/or be considered at risk of future contact with the juvenile justice system.

Making A Referral

Referrals are made through various Probation Departments. School districts can request preventive supports for at-risk youth by working closely with Probation Departments, who then contact ICAN. Why Consider Juvenile Justice Programs

Our Team Approach

We embrace the Wraparound model for all of our care, services and programs. Our staff works collaboratively to develop and implement customized treatment plans for the individuals and families in our programs, and each team member contributes to our clients’ successes.

Empowerment & Support

At ICAN, we strive to empower and support individuals and families facing life challenges, by providing them with the tools to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. We assist them with succeeding in any goal they may have set, whether it be recovering from addiction, finding success in the classroom, creating a healthy home for their family as they anticipate the birth of a child, or seeking support and community resources, all while keeping families together as they process through their traumas.

Access To Resources

We connect individuals and families with critical community resources, such as access to physical and mental health providers, employment opportunities, housing options, peer support groups, and Wraparound services. We understand that access to some of these services can be difficult to attain during certain life challenges, and we are here to help individuals and families overcome this obstacle.
